2] Take a Penguin or Berlian-Wavemaster ferry from the Singapore Harbourfront (ex-World Trade Center - WTC) ferry terminal to Sekupang (Skp) or Batam Center (BC). Make sure your Singapore taxi driver, is not bringing you to the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal near Changi Airport.
3] In the ferry terminal, change Sing$10 into 50,000 Rupiah (in small Rp10k notes, for the Batam taxi.)
The Singapore ferry terminal porter service has nothing to do with Batam's porter service. So, as soon as you board the ferry, proactively start taking responsibility for your own luggage.
4] After arriving in Batam, arrange a taxi at the taxi counter in the terminal to Lucy's Oarhouse for a price of Rp35,000. If the cabbie doesn't know "Lusi Pub", find us 100m south-east of the Hotel (ex-Melia) Panorama Regency (see location map).
5] HANDPHONES: If you are staying more than a day, get yourself a local GSM cellphone number. Working used GSM handphones go for $20-40. A stored value SIM card goes for $10-20.
