TAXI TIPS
* Always agree the price before you use a taxi or "ojek" (Motorbike taxi). E.G. Rp20,000 for local drops by taxi or Rp10,000 for an ojek, is fair (locals pay only half this amount). 
* Never give your taxi driver beer. 
* If you bring your driver shopping, eating  or to karoake bars, expect to pay higher prices to cover the drivers commissions. 
* Drivers should wait outside with the car.
* "Pelan Pelan" means slow down

NAGOYA ENTERTAINMENT D ISTRICT .. in brief
Or just called NED, this compact district is bounded by the Melia Panorama, Goodway and Harmoni hotels. Lucy's Oarhouse is easiest to find, turn left out of the Melia Panoramas front entrance and walk 100m. The famous PP Banana GoGo is upstairs. Rio Ritas and Memori (karoake) are over the road. Turn right out Lucy's front door and you can find the Jungle Bar, Classics Pub , Red Cock, Ice Pub and Steps. The Hard Chilli Cafe, George's Bar, Last Pub, Bistro, Red Rose and Beyond Bar are  further down on the right (in that order).

• Golf is available at six courses. Book through  your hotel.
• Hire a car and drive the Barelang Highway to Bridge-6 (Rp210,000 for 3 hours) using a Hotel Melia limo). .
• Take a ferry from Telaga Punggur to Tanjung Pinang town on Bintan Island. Spend an afternoon visiting the old palace and fort on historic Penyenget Island.
• Fishing: Mr Ahee Tel:+6281169 9005. His largish boats go for about Sin$400/day.

EATING OUT
OUTDOOR FOOD COURTS.  At night, Nagoya has many food courts, called "pujasera, with many fun loving BPGs (Beer Promotion Girls). Biggest is the 500seat Nagoya Food Court, behind Centrepoint.  Find Seafood Hai San in the middle of A1 Pujasera (behind Lucky Plaza); they do a very good Pepper Crab, Ikan Asam Padas (hot and sour fish claypot), Baby Kailan with Mushrooms or vegetable based Sapo Tahu. (US$6-10/head)
WATERFRONT SEAFOOD:. Most famous is the Golden Prawn, but avoid it as part of your bill goes to pay taxi driver commission. Best value is Rezeki Seafood at Batu Besar, 5km past airport (US$10-15/head).
HARBOUR BAY FOOD COURT at  next to the HB Ferry Terminal. Big range of seafood outlets in a seafront setting, only 500m from town.
BEST STEAKS are in B&K's Grill, 2nd floor Hotel Planet Holiday. The Panoram's Ten Kyu has great tepanyaki (at US$30/head). Dont listen to the food advise of taxi drivers.
WESTERN FOOD: Try Bistro, Smiling Hills, Red Cock and Lucy's Oarhouse; all are good.
Excellent pub grub at Lucys Oarhouse. Try their home made sausages and mash. Also fish and chips; steak sandwich; all day breakfast.
